Walter Riesen is a partner in Star Route Farm in Otsego County and a CADE board member since 2014.

Star Route Farm is located in the southeast corner of Otsego County. Star Route is a 7-10 acre organic farm that cultivates vegetables, herbs and heirloom-type small grains.

Because of recent changes in climate conditions, Star Route is switching production practices to a no-till, permanent bed system, so they no longer rely on tractor tillage for vegetable production.The practice captures carbon in the soil and mitigates greenhouse gas emissions. They also utilize high tunnels and greenhouses. Five years ago, Star Route Farm started https://www.the607csa.com/ as a collaboration with other regional farm partners, providing a full diet CSA to over 400 subscribers, both locally and in the NYC metropolitan area.
