The New York State Department of Agriculture & Markets has been busy building Taste of NY stores around New York at airports and travel plazas from Buffalo to Long Island and everywhere in between. These stores are independently managed, but are required to stock and rotate products made by New Yorkers. Some stores only provide shelf stable products to customers, while others include food service using fresh products. In order to make your products available to these stores, you must apply to become a Taste of NY Vendor.
Here is a step-by-step guide on how to take advantage of this exciting opportunity:
1. Become a Taste of NY Vendor by submitting this application.
2. Once you have been approved as a Taste of NY Vendor, your products will be listed on the Taste of NY website on the approved list of vendors for all store managers to view. You will notice that store managers can search for products in their specific county or the entire state.
3. Identify the Taste of NY Stores that you or your distributors can deliver to. You can view a list of the Taste of NY Stores here.
4. Contact the Taste of NY stores on your list and introduce yourself. The store managers are busy and the vendor list is long, so do not assume they will find your products on the website. Instead, call the stores you are interested in stocking product in, introduce yourself, describe your products and offer to email them a price list or send them a sample.
